| The Department of Professional Development ( PD ) is specialized in the training service of foreign trade and economic cooperation practitioners, with a focus on building inter-disciplinary professionalism in the field. In addition, PD runs a diversity of professional-advancement-oriented short-term courses, catering for governments at various levels as well as enterprises of different ownerships.
In September 2006, the Shanghai Examination Center authorized by China's Commerce Professional Certification Center was established in the Continuing Education School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with a responsibility for Certification promoting, recruiting, training and examination in Shanghai.
Complying with the requirement of China's Association of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Enterprises to “promote the Foreign Trade Professional Certification the country over”, the Shanghai Examination Center runs a series of training courses on international trade document coordinator, logistics, international freight forwarder, export manger, customs broker, International Business English, BET-Business English.
The courses adopt teaching materials with a large number of up-to-date cases that come from the first hand of foreign trade practitioners. Conducted in an interactive way by experts from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Foreign Trade Institute, all the training courses win applause among trainees.
PD is running a program of Foreign Trade Professional Certification and Employment, which serves as a “Green Channel” of career guidance and facilitation for trainees. The program helps participants obtain two or more of the Foreign Trade Professional Certification through intensive training, and recommends jobs. That is part of what PD is endeavoring-- to render satisfactory continuing education programs and sharpen its trainees' edge in the field.
Other programs available now cover workshops on foreign investment invitation and bidding, VAT and duty drawback, management of foreign-oriented economy, Public administration and finance management, as well as test preparation for Graduate Candidate Test for Master of Engineering, College English Test band IV and VI, self-taught higher education exam. |
