I think it results from different culture. In China, people are deeply affected by Confucianism and hope to avoid conflict and get on harmoniously with other. We抮e usually sensitive to the 揻ace?and pay attention to the process not the result. Easterners like Chinese the power distance is larger than that in west. So we say more 搚es?and usually don抰 express our own opinion directly. We always think implicit is a kind of virtue. In a group, people always keep consistence. For instance, if everyone in a group has the same idea except you, what should you do? I think you would have to say, 搚es, I agree. I抳e the same idea?because you抮e afraid to become difference. But such eastern harmony and implicit have really affected our working efficiency and in fact our Chinese are the worst team worker. It抯 a real problem. In corporation, people usually absolutely obey their boss and fear to insist his view even if the view is right. The higher manager is the authority to lower people and opposition means challenge to the authority whatever it is right or not. People usually don抰 distinguish 揻or thing?and 揻or individual? But in west, people are more individual. They are more directly and not affected by others. So power distance in west is relatively lower than that in east. People in corporation are equal. Relationship between managers and their people are based on working. So staff members are more usually discuss with their manager and put forward their different views. In high power distance country like China we think much but never completely express our own views. What we do is to 搃mply? So trust in east needs time. But in west, trust is established on contract and operation for a corporation to some extent is simpler and isn抰 affected by individuals. In a JV or multinational corporation we must take into account the differences arouse by power distance to avoid the culture conflict. !^ ?祠5丆JOJQJ CJOJQJOJQJ %>
