Course Outline

Chinese II (Intermediate level)
While the basic level teaches phonetic system and basic characters necessary in basic daily situations, the intermediate level will develop learners’ speaking and listening skills by expanding their vocabulary and enhancing grammar awareness. The course is designed to achieve this goal in the form of more daily situations that foreign students may encounter. The appropriate and practical usage of the language is the central concern when choosing the conversations, which are entitled in idiomatic Chinese sayings. To arouse students’ interest, we have incorporated special activities like story-telling, jokes, singing folk songs, appreciating ancient poems, etc. Besides, students will also learn to write Chinese characters. Upon completing this course, students will learn around 450 basic words & phrases. With the added vocabulary, in this course you will add over 1000 words & phrases to your stock of vocabulary.

The following outline is subject to flexible reschedule and reorder as well as additions as the specific course progressing.

Unit 1 (Period 1-4)
Learn how to confirm, comment and describe a city, change money at a bank
Grammar: Preposition “从” adverb “就” particle “了”(2)
Listening and speaking: More complicated greetings: Mention Cao Cao and there he is. 

  Unit 2 (Period 5-8)
Grammar: double verbs. Numbers: 100-10000
Chinese Characters
Listening and speaking: Bargaining: The higher the price,

Tuition fees may be submitted by cash, bank card or credit card. With the original receipt, a refund in full can be made if the prospective student notifies us in writing of his/her withdrawal from the course one week before the commencement date. If using a foreign bank card, a non-refundable charge of approximately 2.8% of the tuition fee (about RMB160) will be deducted by the bank to cover transaction costs.
